Kings clash with Warriors in Pacific showdown

Mar 6, 2013 - 3:30 PM (Sports Network) - Steph Curry and David Lee have carried to the Golden State Warriors all season and are gearing up for the stretch run.

Curry has been as smooth as James Dean his last five games and looks to keep the Warriors on track Wednesday versus the Sacramento Kings in the continuation of a seven-game homestand.

The sharp-shooting Curry has scored 25 or more points in five straight games, averaging 34.6 ppg in that stretch, and registered 26 points and 12 assists in Monday's 125-118 victory over the Toronto Raptors. Curry leads the Warriors with 22.3 ppg and is third in the NBA in 3-point shooting (45.1 percent).

Curry is one of three players this season to average at least 22 points, six assists and four rebounds (LeBron James, Russell Westbrook).

"We played very well," Warriors coach Mark Jackson said after the team halted a four-game slide. "They had a couple of guys that got hot Andrea Bargnani, Rudy Gay -- but we battled and competed."

David Lee posted 29 points and 11 rebounds, and has recorded a double-double in each of his last seven games. Lee has eight games this season with at least 20 points and 10 boards. Klay Thompson and Jarrett Jack scored 22 and 16 points, respectively, for Golden State, which is 19-7 in Oakland and sixth in the Western Conference. The Warriors are seventh in points scored, 101.3 ppg, but are allowing 101.8 ppg.

The Warriors will play 16 of their last 22 games of the regular season at home and are unbeaten in three straight as the host. Houston, Milwaukee, New York, Detroit and Chicago are slated to visit Oracle Arena.

Meanwhile, Sacramento will try to bounce back from Tuesday's 120-113 loss versus the Denver Nuggets Wednesday. The Kings gave up 70 points in the second half en route to the loss and were led by Marcus Thornton's 32 points. He made 12-of-21 shots, including 5-of-11 3-pointers, while Isaiah Thomas and Jason Thompson scored 23 and 18 points, respectively.

DeMarcus Cousins was held to eight points on only 1-of-12 shooting, but pulled down 13 rebounds for the Kings, losers in eight of their last 10 games.

Thornton has scored 20-plus points four times in the past five games, averaging 26.2 ppg in the span. Thomas has scored in double-figures in 12 of the last 13 games for a Kings squad that is averaging 110.9 ppg in the previous 12 contests.

Following their visit to Oakland, the Kings, who are just 6-27 on the road, will return to California's capital city for three games versus Phoenix, Milwaukee and Chicago.

Sacramento has beaten Golden State twice already in 2012-13 with both games played on its home court. The Kings, though, haven't fared well lately at the Warriors as evidenced by a 2-10 record in the last 12 encounters between the Pacific Division occupants.
