Sixers continue road trip in Sacramento

Mar 24, 2013 - 1:45 PM (Sports Network) - The Sacramento Kings and Philadelphia 76ers were the latest victims of the Denver Nuggets 15-game winning streak.

Maybe they can discuss it during dead-ball situations as the two teams hook up Sunday night in Sacramento.

The Kings fought hard in Denver on Saturday night, but came up just short, losing 101-95. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the Kings, who have won three straight at home.

The Nuggets played their second consecutive game without point guard Ty Lawson, who sat with a heel issue. Andre Miller was awesome late with two assists and a crucial three-point play in the fourth quarter to preserve the victory.

"Miller was Miller in Miller time," said Sacramento coach Keith Smart. "He made plays down the stretch. He helps his team keep its composure or right where it needed to be."

DeMarcus Cousins had a great all-around game for the Kings with 24 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks. John Salmons netted 18 points and Isaiah Thomas and Marcus Thornton both had 10 points.

The Sixers discovered new ways to lose basketball games on Thursday.

In Denver, with the Nuggets in the throws of a 13-game winning streak, the Sixers blew a five-point lead with less than 15 seconds to go.

Corey Brewer made a 3-pointer to cut it to two, then Evan Turner missed two foul shots that could have iced the game. Damien Wilkins then fouled Brewer on a 3-point attempt with 2.1 seconds left.

Brewer drained all three free throws, then Wilkins' shot got blocked on the other end.

The Nuggets got their 14th straight win and the Sixers lost for the 15th consecutive time on the road.

"We made bad plays," said a testy Sixers coach Doug Collins. "We had the game in hand. We've got to win that game. We're out here scratching on the road. We're not giving up on this season. We're not going to make the playoffs, but we're not giving up on the season. It's disappointing."

Wilkins led the Sixers in scoring with 24 points. Jrue Holiday had 18 points and 15 assists and Spencer Hawes also registered a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Thaddeus Young had 17 and Turner finished with 12 and six turnovers.

The Sixers finish off the western road trip in Utah on Monday.

The Sixers have won 11 of their last 15 against the Kings and four straight in Sacramento.
