The Nets disposed of the two-time defending NBA champion Miami Heat with Friday's 101-100 victory, as Joe Johnson's late free throws proved to be the difference and he finished with 19 points.
Paul Pierce also netted 19 points and Brook Lopez chipped in 13 for the Nets, who rebounded from a season-opening loss at Cleveland.
"It was good that we got a taste of this type of atmosphere this early in the season to try to see where we're at," Pierce said after the Nets ended a 13- game slide to Miami. "Miami, whenever they come into town, they're a measuring stick for everybody, so it was good for us to come out and get the win."
Nets new head coach Jason Kidd will return to the bench for Sunday's clash with Orlando. Kidd missed the first two games of the season while serving a suspension for a DUI incident.
In milestone news, Nets veteran center Kevin Garnett is seven minutes shy of passing Wilt Chamberlain for fifth in minutes played in NBA history.
The Magic ended a two-game losing streak to start the season with Friday's 110-90 victory versus the New Orleans Pelicans.
Arron Afflalo led six Orlando players in double figures with 30 points on 10- of-14 shooting. Maurice Harkless had 20 points to go with a team-high eight rebounds and four steals, while Kyle O'Quinn added 14 points and four blocks off the bench.
"We played the way we wanted to," Harkless said. "We played well defensively and that's what really got us out to a big lead. We just have to be able to put games like this together on a nightly basis."
Orlando outscored the Pelicans during the second quarter, 31-15, and led by as many as 30 points in the second half.
The Magic lost all four meetings with the Nets last season, but have won 10 of the previous 13 encounters in central Florida.
