Warriors hope to snap skid with Pistons in town
Nov 12, 2013 - 3:50 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Golden State Warriors have failed to reach 100 points in back-to-back losses and will return home for three straight games, starting with Tuesday's matchup with the Detroit Pistons at Oracle Arena.
The Warriors are one of the highest scoring teams in the NBA (102.6 ppg), but have been grounded in consecutive losses to San Antonio (76-74) and Memphis (108-90).
In Saturday's loss to the Grizzlies, Steph Curry scored 22 points, Andre Iguodala added 19 and David Lee finished with 13 points and nine rebounds for the Warriors, who had won three in a row before the recent slide and went 2-2 on a recent road trip.
Curry returned from a one-game absence because of a left ankle bone bruise.
Golden State struggled all night inside and Memphis posted a 54-18 advantage in the paint, going 30-6 in the second half. The Warriors trailed by as many as 23 points and the final 18-point differential was the largest of the season.
The Warriors lost for the 10th consecutive time against the Grizzlies and the ninth-straight time at FedExForum.
Tuesday's game will mark the first of three in a row at home for Golden State, as Oklahoma City and Utah will pay a visit to Oakland.
Detroit will continue its four-game road trip out west and opened the sojourn with Monday's 109-103 setback in Portland.
Brandon Jennings scored 28 points on 11-of-24 shooting and Greg Monroe added 19 points and eight rebounds. Andre Drummond chipped in 16 points and 16 boards for the Pistons, losers in three straight and winless on the road (0-2). Josh Smith was limited to 11 points in defeat.
"It is a tough loss," Jennings said. "We had some good shots, we came back but we didn't execute well at the end. We had them down to four. But it's still early in the season and I just look to play better every game as a whole team. We have another one tomorrow and I am focusing on that."
Jennings eclipsed the 5,000-point, 1,000-rebound plateaus for his career.
The Pistons are slated to visit Sacramento and the Los Angeles Lakers on this western trek, and lost both meetings with Golden State last season.
The Warriors have won four in a row and five of six against Detroit and three straight as the host.
