The Sixers halted a two-game losing streak Wednesday night with an impressive 123-117 home overtime victory over the Houston Rockets.
Philly overcame a 10-point deficit to start the fourth quarter with a 26-16 showing over the final 12 minutes. They outscored the Rockets, 17-11 in the extra session.
"Again, the group came back," head coach Brett Brown said. "To the group's credit, we found a way to claw back in it. The players stayed together and kept working at it. Great win for us, given the way we played the last game."
The game Brown referenced was a 109-85 drubbing at home to the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night.
James Anderson scorched his old team with 36 points on 12-for-16 shooting. Evan Turner had 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Spencer Hawes and Tony Wroten chipped in 18 apiece and Wroten, who started in place of rookie Michael Carter-Williams, added 11 assists.
Carter-Williams missed the game with a sore foot, but is expected back Friday.
The Hawks saw a two-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday when the New York Knicks came to Atlanta and bumped off the Hawks, 95-91.
Jeff Teague paced the Hawks with 25 points, followed by 23 from Al Horford. Cartier Martin added 13 off the bench, but Atlanta's other three starters - Paul Millsap, DeMarre Carroll and Kyle Korver - combined for 18 points.
"I think everybody's a little upset on the outcome," said Teague. "I feel like we should've had this."
The Knicks only committed six turnovers against the Hawks.
Korver did knock down two 3-pointers against New York to extend his streak of consecutive games with a made long ball to 81. Dana Barros owns the all-time record of 89.
The Hawks hit the road following Friday night's contest with stops in the Big Apple and South Beach.
The Sixers and Hawks split last season's four matchups and each team won once in the other's building. Philadelphia has won three of its last four in Atlanta.
