Red hot Blazers end road trip in Milwaukee

(SportsNetwork.com) - LaMarcus Aldridge and the surprising Portland Trail Blazers aim for their 10th win of the season Wednesday in the conclusion of a four-game road trip against the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Blazers are one of three teams in action Wednesday aiming for win No. 10, as the Indiana Pacers (9-1) and San Antonio Spurs (9-1) tip it off as well.

Portland registered its seventh straight win with Monday's 108-98 triumph against the Brooklyn Nets and was led by Aldridge's 27 points and eight rebounds. Aldridge is averaging 26.3 ppg in his last three. Wesley Matthews scored 24 points and reigning Rookie of the Year Damian Lillard had 19 points.

The Nets scored on 19 of their first 20 possessions en route to a 40-point opening quarter (40-31). Portland then settled down defensively after that and Brooklyn cooled off to the tune of 22 percent (9-of-41) from the floor in the second half.

"I thought it was a testament to our guys as far as how they competed," said Portland head coach Terry Stotts. "They never lost confidence, they kept competing and kept chipping away at it. When you have that belief that you can do something it makes it easier."

Mo Williams added 12 points off the bench.

Portland is riding its longest winning streak since a 13-game run from Dec. 3-13, 2007 and has prevailed in each of its last five road games. The Blazers, who are 5-1 as the guest, won seven in a row outside the Rose City from Feb. 5 - March 8, 2011.

The Bucks are a miserable 2-7 this season and have lost five in a row, including Saturday's 92-79 defeat at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

O.J. Mayo scored a team-best 22 points, Khris Middleton had 14 and Ekpe Udoh contributed 11 and 11 rebounds in the loss. Milwaukee shot 34.9 percent and cut a 12-point deficit to four points with an 8-0 run in the middle of the fourth quarter, but Oklahoma City was too much at the end.

The Bucks were banged up and played without the majority of their starters.

"It was a heck of an effort tonight having four starters out," Mayo said.

Caron Butler (shoulder) and Ersan Ilyasova (ankle) are probable Wednesday, while Brandon Knight (hamstring) is doubtful and Gary Neal (foot) is listed as questionable versus the Blazers.

Milwaukee swept a home-and-home series with Portland last season and has won four straight overall in this matchup.
