Heat take on Magic again
Nov 23, 2013 - 3:45 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Miami Heat will try to extend their winning streak to six games when they wrap up a home-and-home set with the Orlando Magic.Miami handed Orlando a 120-92 loss in the Magic Kingdom on Wednesday and was led by LeBron James' 21 points, seven assists and six rebounds. James Jones got 17 points and Michael Beasley 14 off the bench for Miami, which shot 51.4 percent for the game and 62.5 percent from 3-point range (15-of-24).
"We find a way to stay engaged and stay sharp," Jones said of coming off the bench. "My team expects me to come out here and do this when it's asked of me."
The Heat started the game on a 16-0 run and the 28-point triumph was their largest against the Magic in the team's history. None of Miami's starters played in the fourth quarter. Heat guard Dwyane Wade missed his second consecutive game with a sore knee and is probable versus the Magic.
The Heat have won three in a row at home and are 6-1 in south Florida. Their bench play has been potent recently and is posting an average of 45.7 points in the last three games.
Miami has yet to trail during the fourth quarter in all nine of its wins.
Meanwhile, James has scored in double-figures in 507 consecutive games, one shy of matching Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Abdul-Jabbar scored 10-plus points in 508 games from Oct. 18, 1969 - Jan. 7, 1976.
Phoenix is scheduled to visit Miami on Monday.
The Magic have lost two in a row and five of six games, and were led by Arron Afflalo's game-best 30 points on Wednesday. Victor Oladipo and Jameer Nelson scored 20 and 17 points, respectively, for Orlando, which shot 40.8 percent and committed 24 turnovers, leading to 30 Miami points.
Orlando was outrebounded by a 40-25 margin.
"We're not happy we lost by this many points and we want to do better than we did tonight the next time we play them," Magic center Nikola Vucevic said. "I think we can play them better because we played them well last year. We just have to play better, especially on the defensive end."
Afflalo has either led or tied the team in scoring eight times this season for Orlando, which is 0-4 on the road.
The Magic, who suffered that aforementioned loss at home to the Heat on Wednesday, have lost six straight and seven of the last eight encounters with Miami.
Orlando has lost four straight and five of its last six trips to the shores of Biscayne Bay.
