Thunder resume homestand versus Jazz

Nov 24, 2013 - 3:56 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oklahoma City Thunder will continue their six-game homestand Sunday night versus the lowly Utah Jazz.

The Thunder's six-game homestand is a season-long (tying) and they are 2-0 on the residency after wins over Denver and the Los Angeles Clippers. In Thursday's 105-91 victory over the Clippers, Kevin Durant scored 28 points and Serge Ibaka ended with 17. Russell Westbrook and Jeremy Lamb scored 12 and 11 points, respectively, for Oklahoma City, which shot 51.9 percent for the game.

"I thought that was probably as well as we can execute a game plan," said Thunder coach Scott Brooks. "I feel good about how we played throughout the game but I thought we did really, really well in the second half."

Ibaka is averaging 16.4 points and 10.1 rebounds in his last eight games for the Thunder, who have won three in a row and seven of nine games. The Thunder are also 5-0 at home for the best start in the OKC era and started 9-0 as the host in 2004-05, when the franchise was located in Seattle.

Oklahoma City will also entertain San Antonio, Golden State and Minnesota.

Durant, meanwhile, leads the NBA with 29.5 ppg and dropped 42 on the Jazz in a 101-98 win back on Oct. 30. It was the second highest scoring output on opening night for the Thunder franchise. Dale Ellis had 46 in the 1988 season opener for the Sonics.

The Jazz lost three of four to the Thunder last season and are just 2-9 in the previous 11 meetings between the Northwest Division foes. Utah has lost four straight, six of seven and seven of the nine trips to OKC.

Utah is 1-13 overall this season and suffered its fifth straight loss in Friday's 103-93 defeat at the hands of the Dallas Mavericks. Marvin Williams had a team-high 19 points, Jeremy Evans posted 14 off the bench and both Derrick Favors and Gordon Hayward had 13 points for Utah, which is 0-2 on a three-game trip and winless (0-8) as the visitor.

The Mavericks had a 31-18 lead after 12 minutes and managed to hold off the Jazz in the second half.

"I thought they (Mavs) were the aggressor in the first half," said Utah head coach Tyrone Corbin. "One thing we have to (do) - we have to play with energy and a sense of urgency. I didn't think we had it in the first half."

The Jazz have lost nine in row away from Salt Lake City dating back to last season.
