Struggling Bucks play host to Wall, Wizards
Nov 27, 2013 - 3:48 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Milwaukee Bucks will try to halt a nine-game losing streak Wednesday night when they welcome the Washington Wizards to Bradley Center. The Bucks haven't won since Nov. 6 at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers. They've dropped four straight in their own building and are dead last in the Eastern Conference.
Milwaukee's most recent setback came in Detroit on Monday night. The Bucks fell to the Pistons, 113-94.
"I expressed my disappointment in how we played, but the last thing I want is for this team to feel sorry for itself," said Bucks head coach Larry Drew.
The Bucks fell 20 points behind after the first quarter and actually trailed by 31 heading into the locker room at the half. They won the last 24 minutes by 12, but it was still another loss.
John Henson led Milwaukee with 15 points, while Gary Neal and Khris Middleton, who earned a spot in the starting lineup, chipped in 14 points apiece.
Twelve Bucks played 10 minutes or more on Monday and only Luke Ridnour was held out of the scoring column.
The Wizards are playing their best ball of the season. Washington has won two straight and four of its last five and the reason is no great mystery.
It's John Wall.
He is the reigning Eastern Conference Player of the Week and in his first game since receiving the honor, Wall scored 31 points and handed out nine assists in a 116-111 victory at home over the Los Angeles Lakers.
"I've been more consistent, just being who I am," Wall said after the Lakers win. "As long as we are getting wins and I'm leading my team, that's the most important thing. Just keep winning basketball games and just try to take care of home court advantage when we get the chance."
Wall didn't beat the Lakers on his own. Nene scored a career-high 30 points and Martell Webster added 20. Marcin Gortat netted 15 points and Trevor Ariza chipped in 13.
The Wizards bench scored a total of seven points.
The Wiz will be without budding star Bradley Beal for at least two weeks. The shooting guard suffered a stress injury to his proximal right fibula.
The Wizards won two of three last season against the Bucks, while Washington has dropped 10 of its last 14 in Milwaukee.
