Warriors aim to bounce back in meeting with Pelicans

Dec 17, 2013 - 3:44 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Golden State Warriors have lost three of their last four games, all of which by exactly four points.

The Warriors hope to have some luck go their way Tuesday versus the New Orleans Pelicans in the opener of a three-game homestand.

Golden State dropped a 115-111 decision to Charlotte on Dec. 9, then after a victory versus Dallas two nights later, the team suffered a 116-112 defeat against Houston and a 106-102 setback at Phoenix on Sunday. Steph Curry poured in 30 points on 8-of-17 shooting and made 4-of-7 3-pointers to go along with seven assists and six rebounds. Klay Thompson scored 19 points for the Warriors, losers in four of the last six games.

Golden State turned the ball over 20 times, leading to 17 points.

Curry buried a 3-pointer to make it 102-100 with less than two minutes to go and later missed a forced jumper with Suns forward P.J. Tucker defending.

"He played good defense. I couldn't get a shot off," Curry said afterward. "I tried to draw a foul and get him up in the air but he didn't go for it."

Curry is sixth in the NBA with 24.1 points per game and has scored 30 or more points three times in the last four games. The sharpshooter has posted 20-plus points in each of the previous 10 games.

David Lee had 18 points and 13 boards for his fifth straight double-double in the loss to the Suns and has scored in double figures in a career-best 101 straight games.

The Warriors will also host San Antonio and the Los Angeles Lakers on this homestand and are 7-3 at Oracle Arena.

New Orleans opened a five-game western trip with a 102-93 loss at Denver on Sunday, as Ryan Anderson led the way with 26 points and Austin Rivers netted 17 off the bench.

Jrue Holiday and Eric Gordon scored 12 and 10 points, respectively, for the Pelicans, who entered the Rocky Mountains having won two straight and five of their previous seven games.

"We just didn't have the same juice tonight that we've had in a lot of games," Pelicans coach Monty Williams said. "Guys missed shots. We had a lot of open looks, but we just didn't make good shots."

The Pelicans had won three in a row on the road and were outrebounded by a 51-32 margin. That mainly has to do with the absence of young star forward Anthony Davis, who is out because of a broken bone in his left hand. Davis could return in a few weeks.

Pelicans guard Tyreke Evans (ankle) is questionable for Tuesday and missed the loss to the Nuggets. He played sparingly in Friday's win over Memphis.

New Orleans is 4-6 away from the Big Easy and still has the Los Angeles Clippers, Portland and Sacramento to visit on this journey.

Golden State defeated New Orleans, 102-101, on Nov. 26 on the road and has won five straight and nine of the last 12 meetings between the teams, including the last two games in Oakland.
