Pistons host Memphis for a Sunday matinee

Jan 5, 2014 - 3:07 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Detroit Pistons will try to snap a three-game losing streak Sunday afternoon when they welcome the Memphis Grizzlies to The Palace of Auburn Hills.

The Pistons have dropped four straight at home and five of six overall. They've surrendered 100-plus points in all three games during this skid and they haven't mustered 100 points on their own end.

Detroit has enjoyed a nice little break. The Pistons haven't played since a 106-99 home loss on Monday to the Washington Wizards, which polished a home- and-home sweep for the Wiz.

Greg Monroe had 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Pistons. Brandon Jennings added 15 points and 14 assists and rookie Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored a career-high 17 -- all in the first half.

Andre Drummond registered a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Josh Smith and Kyle Singler also scored in double figures for the Pistons.

Detroit was without guard Rodney Stuckey because of a sore shoulder.

The Pistons led by 12 near the end of the third quarter and 87-78 going into the fourth. Washington used a 14-0 run spanning the two quarters to take the lead.

"We've got to finish games and limit our turnovers in the fourth quarter," said Caldwell-Pope. "We have to make stops on defense and get the baskets when they're there."

The Grizzlies have alternated wins and losses over their last six. They are 1-1 on this current road trip, which will end on Sunday afternoon. Memphis will be home for four straight following its matchup with the Pistons.

After a 99-91 victory in Phoenix on Thursday, the Grizzlies helped the Denver Nuggets end an eight-game slide, falling to the Mile High city squad, 111-108 on Friday.

Zach Randolph scored 25 points and pulled down 13 rebounds while Mike Conley added 23 points and eight assists for the Grizzlies, who had won four of their last six entering the game.

Tayshaun Prince scored 13 points and Kosta Koufos and Jon Leuer both added 11 for the Grizzlies. Tony Allen finished with 10.

"We gave ourselves a chance. They made a run, we bounced back. We felt we should have won the game," Randolph said.

The Grizzlies beat the Pistons in overtime on Nov. 1 in Memphis. The Grizz have taken eight in a row against the Pistons and five straight at The Palace.
