Grizzlies roll to 28-point road win against Pistons

Ed Davis scored 17 and had 11 rebounds and Zach Randolph had 16 points, 16 rebounds and five assists for the Grizzlies, who have alternated wins and losses over the last seven games. Tayshaun Prince and Mike Conley added 15 points apiece for the visitors.
Greg Monroe totaled 19 points and eight rebounds and Andre Drummond had 15 points and 14 rebounds for Detroit, which has lost four straight. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Josh Smith had 14 and 13 points, respectively, while the latter contributed nine rebounds.
Through just under five minutes into of the game the teams traded baskets before Caldwell-Pope sparked a 10-2 surge for the Pistons. The clock showed 4:11 left in the first quarter when Conley knocked down a trey to spark a 16-7 tear to end the quarter for Memphis.
Memphis led 28-27 on the strength of its quarter ending run.
Leuer began the second quarter netting 10 of the first 13 points for the Grizzlies but the effort was matched by an assortment of Pistons. Memphis led by four with 7:25 left in the first half.
"Without him, we might have been down 20. We definitely needed that boost," Davis said of Leuer.
In the last four minutes of the half following two ties and three lead changes, the Pistons managed to carry a 56-51 advantage into the break after they closed out the last 1:13 with a 7-2 burst.
Memphis came out of the locker room with a greater energy level than they showed in the first half. They started the third with a 22-9 tear and led 73-65, with 4:38 left.
Memphis continued to run away with the game as they charged ahead further with a 16-3 outburst to start the final 12 minutes. The Pistons trailed, 95-74, with six minutes left to play following the surge, however, the Grizzlies did not slow down and ended the game with a 17-10 run to seal the deal.
"It definitely hurt playing like that in the second half," Drummond said. "To let them come out and do that -- that's definitely tough to swallow."
