The Nets and Knicks are meeting on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and squared off for the first time this season on Dec. 5 in Brooklyn. The Nets posted a 113-83 beating of the Knicks, but have lost nine of the last 12 matchups between the Atlantic Division foes.
Brooklyn has dropped six of nine visits to MSG, but enters Monday's game on a winning note. The Nets handed the Atlanta Hawks a 127-110 beating in London, England on Thursday and were led by Joe Johnson's 29 points on 11-of-15 shooting. Andray Blatche had 20 points, Paul Pierce added 18 and Alan Anderson ended with 15 in the win.
"We just exploited mismatches. I was just feeding off these guys," Johnson said. "We had a lot of ball movement and took a lot of open shots."
The Nets, who are 6-13 as the guest this season and have won six of seven games, made 58.2 percent from the field and hit 16-of-27 3-pointers.
Nets guard Deron Williams sat out with a sprained left ankle and is questionable Monday.
New York has dropped three in a row since a season-high five-game winning streak and opened a lengthy eight-game homestand with Friday's 109-95 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Carmelo Anthony had 26 points and 20 rebounds and J.R. Smith scored 24 off the bench to lead the Knicks, who fell to 7-13 as the host. L.A.'s lead was in double digits for the last 10 minutes of the game and reached 19 points twice.
"Once they started executing their stuff and went on a little run, it was hard for us to bounce back and we couldn't turn the corner," said Anthony.
The Knicks will also host Philadelphia, Charlotte, the Lakers, Boston, Cleveland and Miami on the stay. They went 4-4 on an eight-game homestand back in December of 1986 and are 18-8 at home on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (18-9 overall).
