Hawks seek bounce-back effort against Bucks

Jan 25, 2014 - 3:14 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Atlanta Hawks hope to have a short memory when they visit the Milwaukee Bucks Saturday at the Bradley Center.

The Hawks were annihilated, 107-79, Friday night versus San Antonio and had just three players score more than 10 points. Paul Millsap (15), Lou Williams (12) and Mike Scott (10) were the double-digit scorers for the Hawks, who had won two in a row and four of six games, but fell to 4-6 in the last 10.

Atlanta shot just 38.2 percent for the game and couldn't defend the 3-point line, as San Antonio sank 11-of-18 3-pointers.

"It was a very good performance by San Antonio, they did a lot of things well. It wasn't a good night for us on either end," Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer said.

The Hawks made only 29-of-76 shots (38.2 percent) and 2-of-13 from beyond the arc. Kyle Korver's only basket was, of course, a 3-pointer and he has made at least one in an NBA-record 111 straight games.

"The Hawks just had a tough night, nothing was going to drop. They've got good shooters and it wasn't going in," Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said. "We played very well tonight, one of our better games."

Atlanta is 7-13 as the visitor this season and will also make a stop in Oklahoma City on Monday. In injury news for the Hawks, guard Jeff Teague left the Spurs game with an ankle sprain and is questionable Saturday. He posted nine points and is averaging 16.2 points and a team-high 7.3 assists.

Hawks forward DeMarre Carroll did not play and is bothered by a hamstring issue. Carroll is averaging 9.7 points and 5.6 rebounds.

Milwaukee fell right back into the loss column with Friday's 93-78 loss at Cleveland and has the worst record in the NBA at 8-34.

Khris Middleton paced the Bucks with 13 points on 3-of-5 shooting and Giannis Antetokounmpo had 10 points for the Bucks, who ended a nine-game losing streak versus Detroit on Wednesday and have lost 10 of 11 games.

"It was tough. We started pretty well. It's about energy and we couldn't keep up. When you play against a team like this and they build a lead, it's hard to close that lead," said Milwaukee forward Ersan Ilyasova, who posted five points and grabbed six rebounds.

The Bucks will open a three-game homestand versus the Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers and Phoenix Suns, and are only 4-15 as the host. They lost all four meetings with Atlanta last season and seven of the past eight encounters.
