Nuggets carry momentum into Sacramento

Jan 26, 2014 - 3:17 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Denver Nuggets look to build off a big win over the NBA's best team when they visit the Sacramento Kings Sunday night.

The Nuggets disposed of the mighty Indiana Pacers, 109-96, on Saturday from the Pepsi Center, where Wilson Chandler had a season-high 25 points to go with six rebounds.

Timofey Mozgov and Nate Robinson added 15 points apiece off the bench for Denver, which snapped its three-game losing streak and won for the second time in the last six tries.

"We ran a couple plays for me and I just delivered the shots. Once I got hot I took a couple more shots," Chandler said.

Denver won all but one quarter versus Indiana and was outscored by a 40-31 count in the third stanza. The Nuggets recorded a 33-18 advantage in the second quarter and scored 18 points off 17 turnovers.

The Nuggets have lost two straight and three of four road games, and are 9-12 away from the Mile High City. After visiting the Kings, the Nuggets will return home for four straight games versus Charlotte, Toronto, the Los Angeles Clippers and Milwaukee.

Sacramento has dropped two in a row and five of its last seven games, and sustained a 116-111 overtime loss to the Pacers on Friday. The Kings played without Rudy Gay (Achilles) and DeMarcus Cousins (ankle), and were led by the backcourt duo of Marcus Thornton and Isaiah Thomas.

Thornton scored 42 points and Thomas ended with 38 for the Kings, who received just 11 points from the rest of their starters. Pacers All-Star Paul George had 36 points and converted a clutch four-point play at the end of regulation.

"No matter who is in uniform, we have enough talent to go out there, compete, play hard and play the right way," said Kings head coach Mike Malone.

The Kings squandered a 49-32 lead at one point and led by a 103-99 score before George sent it into overtime.

Sacramento hopes to get Cousins and Gay back into the lineup and defeated Denver, 90-88, on Oct. 30 in California. The Nuggets had won nine in a row in this series before that loss and are still 11-2 in the previous 13 meetings between the two teams.
