Magic make a visit to The Palace
Jan 28, 2014 - 3:49 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Detroit Pistons will try to put the brakes on a four-game losing streak when they host the Orlando Magic Tuesday. The Pistons, losers in three straight at The Palace, dropped a 116-106 decision to the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday in Big D.
Brandon Jennings scored 26 points with seven assists, Josh Smith had 25 points and Greg Monroe finished with 20 points and nine rebounds for the Pistons. Andre Drummond struggled from the floor and ended with four points and six rebounds.
"(Drummond) just had a bad game. The guy is 20-years-old and we're not going to expect him to be like a machine every night and go grab 18 or 19 rebounds," Pistons coach Maurice Cheeks said. "He's 20-years-old and he just didn't have a good game."
Drummond still leads the Eastern Conference with 32 double-doubles and ranks first in the NBA in offensive rebounding with 5.1 per game.
Detroit is 7-15 at home this season.
The Magic will resume a three-game road trip Tuesday and dropped a 100-92 decision to New Orleans the last time out on Sunday.
Arron Afflalo led the Magic with a game-high 25 points, while rookie Victor Oladipo added 18 points and a career high-tying five steals for Orlando, which is winless in its last eight road games and 3-19 as the visitor. The Magic never got closer than 89-86 late in the fourth quarter.
Orlando struggled to contain Pelicans big man Anthony Davis, who registered 22 points, a career-high 19 rebounds and seven blocked shots.
"We've slowed him down before on the offensive glass, but tonight, he had his way with us," Magic forward Kyle O'Quinn told the team's website.
The Magic will end the trip Wednesday at Toronto and have lost 13 of their last 15 games overall. They defeated Detroit, 109-92, back on Dec. 27 in central Florida and have won four of the past six games in this series.
Orlando is just 5-15 in its last 20 visits to The Palace.
