Suns vie to stay perfect on trip, visit lowly Bucks
Jan 29, 2014 - 3:22 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Phoenix Suns have started this road trip 2-0 and will try to remain perfect Wednesday night when they visit the Bradley Center to take on the Milwaukee Bucks.Phoenix opened the four-game swing with a win in Cleveland on Sunday, then came out and pummeled the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday. After Wednesday, the Suns will visit the Indiana Pacers on Thursday, then it's back home for four of five.
On Monday, Gerald Green netted a season-high 30 points as the Suns defeated the Philadelphia 76ers, 124-113. Green was 10-of-12 from the floor and nailed 4-of-5 from beyond the arc for the Suns, who have won four of their last five games.
"I just kind of let the game come to me and took what the defense gave me," Green said.
Goran Dragic had 24 points and seven assists, while Miles Plumlee added 14 points and 13 rebounds in the triumph. P.J. Tucker finished with 15 points and Markieff Morris chipped in 13 off the bench.
Phoenix shot 53.8 percent from the field, 45 percent from long range and scored 33 points off 21 Sixers turnovers. The Suns weren't great with the ball either, coughing it up 20 times.
The Bucks have been putrid in January, going 1-12 in the month. Mercifully, the month is almost over. They only have Wednesday's tilt with the Suns and a road game in Orlando on Friday.
The Los Angeles Clippers came to Brew City on Monday and left with an easy 114-86 win.
Ersan Ilyasova scored 16 points and Khris Middleton had 14 for Milwaukee, but the Bucks shot a poor 38.2 percent from the field. John Henson, Caron Butler and Miroslav Raduljica all finished with 11 points.
"Against a team like the Clippers, you have to be clicking on all cylinders," Bucks head coach Larry Drew said.
Larry Sanders and O.J. Mayo missed the Clippers game due to illness.
The Suns prevailed by 16 when the two teams met in Phoenix on Jan. 4 and have taken 12 of the last 15 meetings. Phoenix has won five of its last seven in Milwaukee.
