Suns beat hapless Bucks
Jan 30, 2014 - 5:28 AM Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Goran Dragic scored a game-high 30 points to lead the Phoenix Suns to a 126-117 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday.Gerald Green scored 23 points, Marcus Morris added 16 points and Channing Frye 13 for the Suns, winners in three straight.
"I kind of felt like we needed some energy, we needed a spark somewhere. I just tried to be a little aggressive and shots were falling," said Green.
Ersan Ilyasova scored 27 points, Brandon Knight finished with 24 points and eight assists and Kris Middleton chipped in with 17 points for the Bucks, who dropped their fourth straight game.
"There were some positives to come out of this game, and we're going to continue to try to build on the positives," Bucks coach Larry Drew said.
Frye's turnaround jumper with 6:34 remaining in the first quarter ignited a quick 7-0 burst to take a 20-11 lead. Phoenix's lead would reach double digits, 28-16, after Morris buried a 3-pointer with 1:26 to go and the Suns owned a 28-19 lead after 12 minutes.
The Bucks pulled within five, 32-27, early in the second, but a 25-7 run for the Suns made it 57-34 with 3:25 to play in the first half. Milwaukee was able to slice its deficit to 12, 62-50, entering the break.
The Bucks continued to inch closer, pulling within 69-60 on a Larry Sanders hook shot with just over four minutes played in the third. The sides traded baskets until a pair of Knight free throws made it a two possession game, 73-67. The Suns managed to push the spread back to double digits, but the Bucks outscored Phoenix 7-2 to close of the quarter and make it 91-84 entering the final frame.
Milwaukee pulled within five several times in the final frame, the latest on a Nate Wolters layup with 7:02 left, but a 20-9 run, capped with back-to-back 3- pointers from Dragic, made it 122-106 with 2:19 remaining.
Milwaukee never got closer than nine the rest of the way.
