Warriors, Jazz tangle in Salt Lake City

The Jazz knocked off the Washington Wizards and Sacramento Kings on this run, pushing their record on this current four-game homestand to 2-1. They fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves 10 days ago, and after Friday's contest, they head to Los Angeles to face the Clippers on Saturday.
Against the Kings on Monday, Derrick Favors led six Utah scorers in double figures with 17 points and also pulled down 12 rebounds to help the Jazz take a 106-99 win.
Marvin Williams and Enes Kanter scored 16 points apiece, with the former also pulling down 11 boards. Jeremy Evans finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Jazz. Gordon Hayward and Alec Burks finished with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
The Jazz blew the game open in the third quarter, a 12-minute frame they won by 11. Sacramento fought back in the fourth, but Utah hung on for the victory.
"I thought we executed well. In that second half, we came out with a lot more sense of urgency. We executed our offense, we got the ball from the strong side to the weak side," said Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin.
The Warriors won a huge matchup in the Pacific Thursday night, thumping the division-leading Clippers, 111-92.
There were no incidents or fireworks in this one, as opposed to the Christmas night battle the two teams engaged in.
David Lee and Stephen Curry poured in 22 points apiece on a combined 18-of-25 shooting display. Lee, who was passed over for a spot on the Western Conference All-Star team Thursday, also grabbed 11 rebounds and Curry, an All- Star starter, handed out seven assists for the Warriors, who snapped out of a 2-5 slump by outscoring the Clippers in the paint by an absurd 66-22 margin.
Andrew Bogut had a huge night with 14 points, 17 rebounds and three blocked shots. Klay Thompson finished with 16, followed by 12 from Marreese Speights and 10 out of Harrison Barnes.
"We made them work," Golden State head coach Mark Jackson said. "We executed offensively, defensively and we really battled. We were locked in."
The Warriors were great on the defensive end, holding the Clippers, the third- best offensive team in the NBA, 14 points under their average. Golden State is 21-3 on the season when it holds opponents under 100 points.
The Warriors have won both matchups this season with the Jazz, including one in Salt Lake City. Golden State has dropped 11 of its last 15 as the visitor in this series.
