Hawks hit the Big Easy to face Pelicans

Feb 5, 2014 - 3:51 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Atlanta Hawks will try to bounce back when they visit the New Orleans Pelicans Wednesday in the Big Easy.

The Hawks had won two in a row and five of seven games until dropping an 89-85 decision to the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday.

Hawks All-Star forward Paul Millsap pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds but connected on just two of his 11 field goals attempts and finished with seven points. Mike Scott and Elton Brand scored 15 and 12 points, respectively, in defeat.

"It's just tough to score on that team," Brand said of the Pacers.

Atlanta's Kyle Korver made his first 3-point attempt to extend his NBA record streak to 116 straight games with at least one 3-poimter.

New Orleans blew a big lead in its last outing against San Antonio in Monday's 102-95 setback.

The Pelicans led by as many as 14 points in the fourth quarter and were led by Anthony Davis' 17 points and 16 rebounds. Anthony Morrow and Eric Gordon tallied 20 and 19 points, respectively, for New Orleans, which has lost four straight against San Antonio.

"Our team defense really struggled," Pelicans head coach Monty Williams said.

New Orleans is 1-1 on a four-game homestand and will also host Minnesota. The Pelicans and Hawks split a pair of meetings last season and are scheduled to play again March 21 at Philips Arena.

Atlanta has lost 14 of 19 games as the visitor in this series.
