Something's got to give when 76ers host Orlando

Feb 26, 2014 - 3:15 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - An unstoppable force meets an immoveable object as far as losing is concerned when the road-weary Orlando Magic pay a visit to the sinking Philadelphia 76ers Wednesday at Wells Fargo Center.

The Magic have lost a franchise record-tying 16 straight road games, while the Sixers are winless in their last 11 games overall and 10 in a row at home.

Orlando is 0-2 on a four-game road trip after losses at Toronto and Washington, and last dropped 16 straight as the visitor from Jan. 27-March 21, 2006. The Magic's previous road victory was an 83-82 decision over Chicago back on Dec. 16.

In Tuesday's 115-106 defeat to the Wizards, rookie Victor Oladipo had 26 points on 10-of-20 shooting and Moe Harkless added 22. Nikola Vucevic finished with 19 points and 14 rebounds for the Magic, losers in five of the last six games. The Magic are just 3-27 on the road and will visit Miami on Saturday.

The Magic shot well at Washington, making 50 percent from the field, but hit only 8-of-25 3-pointers and committed 17 turnovers for 23 Washington points.

"They were getting whatever they wanted in the whole first half," Harkless said of the Wizards, who had a 62-53 lead at the half.

Magic guard and leading scorer Arron Afflalo (19.7 ppg) has missed the last two games and is questionable against the 76ers.

Philadelphia hasn't won since Jan. 29 in a buzzer-beating defeat of the Boston Celtics. Evan Turner hit the game-winning jumper in that one and now he's playing for the Indiana Pacers.

The Sixers are winless (0-3) so far on a five-game homestand and suffered their 11th consecutive defeat on Monday against the NBA-worst Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks took a 130-110 victory and led by as many as 35 points.

Thaddeus Young and Michael Carter-Williams scored 28 and 20 points, respectively, for the Sixers, who are 3-21 since a season-high four-game winning streak from Dec. 29-Jan. 4 and 8-21 as the host.

"They hit every open shot," Young said. "We have to do a better job."

Philly has lost 16 of its last 18 home games and is allowing an NBA-worst 111.0 points per game. Opponents have scored 100 or more points in each of the last 11 games against the Sixers, who last allowed 100-plus points in more than 10 straight games in a single season during the final 11 games of the 1996-97 campaign.

The 76ers will close out the homestand Saturday versus Washington and have split two meetings with Orlando this season. The Magic are 9-3 in the past 12 matchups with Philadelphia and have won 12 of 16 trips to south Philly.
