Pacers welcome Warriors to Indianapolis

Mar 4, 2014 - 2:33 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Indiana Pacers have some business to take care of before they play six of the next eight games on the road, as they host the Golden State Warriors Tuesday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Indiana won its fourth straight game at home and improved to 29-3 as the host the last time out in a 94-91 decision versus the Utah Jazz on Sunday. The Pacers may have played down to Utah's level, but proved they are a winning organization by pulling it out.

David West scored a game-high 25 points and Paul George added 22 points, six rebounds and four assists. C.J. Watson and Lance Stephenson scored 13 and 11 points, respectively, for the East-leading Pacers, winners in five straight overall and 11 of the last 14 games.

The Pacers were able to hold off the Jazz and made only 41.5 percent of their shots. They countered poor shooting by scoring 24 points off 18 Utah turnovers, while committing just 10 miscues themselves.

"We started off so slow, I felt like I needed to be a little more aggressive. Same thing in the third quarter. But I thought our team just competed hard enough to win a tough, tough game. They're a young, feisty and up-and-coming team. I thought we handled the challenge," said West.

Pacers guard George Hill (shoulder) is day-to-day and has missed two straight games. He is averaging 10.9 points this season.

Indiana will play three in a row at Charlotte, Houston and Dallas, and will also visit Philadelphia, Detroit and New York.

The Warriors are nearing the end of their six-game eastern sojourn and have a 2-2 record on the trip. They just suffered a 104-98 loss at Toronto on Sunday and couldn't overcome a 14-2 Raptors run in the decisive fourth quarter.

Golden State, which was led by Stephen Curry's game-high 34 points, pulled within seven points late in the game, but had costly turnovers in crunch time. David Lee tallied 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Klay Thompson and Harrison Barnes scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.

DeMar DeRozan paced the Raptors with 32 points.

"This is a disappointing loss," Warriors head coach Mark Jackson remarked. "We didn't play well for about eight minutes (down the stretch). DeRozan made some tough shots, (Patrick) Patterson made some threes when he was stretched out."

The Warriors entered Canada having won five of six games and are now 18-14 on the road this season. They will end the trip Wednesday at Boston.

Meanwhile, Curry had a triple-double in the previous game at New York, posting 27 points, 11 assists and 11 rebounds in a 126-103 beating. He is averaging 25.4 points and 8.0 assists in his last 17 contests.

Golden State, which went 6-1 on a recent road trip from Dec. 29-Jan. 8, lost to Indiana at home on Jan. 20 by a 102-94 score. George led five Indiana players in double figures with 23 points in that one and the Pacers are 5-1 in the last six meetings between the teams.

The Pacers have won six in a row and 11 of the last 12 games in this series in the Hoosier State.
