Green, Spurs handle Cavs in Cleveland

Mar 5, 2014 - 5:35 AM Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Danny Green led six San Antonio players in double figures with 24 points to help the Spurs rout the Cleveland Cavaliers 122-101 on Tuesday.

Kawhi Leonard added 18 points, Patty Mills and Boris Diaw both scored 16 and Manu Ginobili and Marco Belinelli finished with 11 apiece for the Spurs, winners in four straight.

Kyrie Irving and Dion Waiters finished with 24 points apiece and Spencer Hawes scored 20 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for the Cavaliers, losers in five of their last seven.

"You just have to tip your hat off to a great team like that. They were great tonight and just messed up our rotations. Playing pick-and-roll, guys were hitting shots, making plays. They made it tough on us on both ends of the floor," said Irving.

Waiters, who went 11-for-18 from the field, had missed the previous seven games with a knee injury.

The Cavs closed the first quarter on an 18-7 run to take a 23-13 lead into the second. Cleveland led by as many as 12 early in the second, but it was all San Antonio from there.

Ginobili nailed a 3-pointer that sparked a 29-11 swing to give the visitors a 42-36 lead. The Spurs were 11-for-15 from the field on the run, with Mills leading the way with 10 points.

San Antonio managed to outscore the Cavs 8-4 the rest of the way to take a 50-40 edge into the break.

Tristan Thompson had Cleveland within five, 56-51, with 8:32 remaining in the third, but the Spurs quickly pushed their spread to 14, 65-51, following Leonard's 3-pointer with 6:17 to go.

San Antonio's spread briefly dipped below double digits before the visitors took a commanding 85-68 lead into the final frame.

The Spurs led by as many as 28 after that.

"We got off to a slow start, but after that it was fun. We all scored, we all passed the ball. It was very entertaining," said Ginobili.
