Hawks hope to continue domination of Bobcats
Mar 17, 2014 - 1:48 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Atlanta Hawks will carry a three-game winning streak into Monday's night contest at Philips Arena against Southwest Division rivals, the Charlotte Bobcats .The Hawks closed out a six-game road trip with a win against the Utah Jazz one week ago, then secured back-to-back home victories over the Milwaukee Bucks and Denver Nuggets.
On Saturday night, Atlanta prevailed over the Nuggets, 97-92.
Paul Millsap scored 24 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the Hawks. Kyle Korver finished with 18 points on 4-of-4 shooting from 3-point range and Jeff Teague added 15 points and 10 assists for the Hawks.
Pero Antic scored 16 points and DeMarre Carroll added 11 points, 10 rebounds and four steals in the win.
The Hawks led by as many as 21 points, but the Nuggets actually led with under two minutes to go. Atlanta scored the game's final six points.
"I think our group continues to be resilient," said Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer. "It's tough when a team fights back on you and erases a big lead on you."
The Bobcats are on a roll, winning four straight and six of their last seven.
On Sunday, Charlotte visited the Bucks and left with a 101-92 victory.
Kemba Walker scored 21 points with eight assists to help the Bobcats. Al Jefferson netted 20 points with seven rebounds and Gary Neal added 18 off the bench for Charlotte.
The Bucks were down only four with two minutes to play, but back-to-back jumpers from Walker and Neal closed any window of opportunity for the lowly Bucks.
"It was terrible out there. But we got going," Jefferson said
The Bobcats struggled shooting in the first quarter, but ended up going 39- for-68 from the field for 57.4 percent.
Charlotte will visit Brooklyn on Wednesday, then play three straight at home.
The Hawks have won 10 in a row against the Bobcats, including five straight in Charlotte.
