Spurs take 11-game win streak into Sacramento

Mar 21, 2014 - 2:07 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The surging San Antonio Spurs take their season-high 11- game winning streak to California's capital city Friday night, when they invade Sacramento to take on the Kings.

The Spurs made it 11 straight wins with Wednesday's 125-109 pounding of the Los Angeles Lakers in the opener of a three-game road trip, as Tony Parker led a balanced effort with a game-high 25 points on 11-of-16 shooting.

Kawhi Leonard scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Danny Green netted 16 points and Tim Duncan chipped in 12 and 16 rebounds.

Manu Ginobili posted 13 points off the bench for the Spurs, who made 53 percent of their shots and had a 52-46 advantage on the glass. The win lifted the Spurs to an NBA-best 25-8 on the road. They are 14-5 against the West as the guest.

"We're moving the ball and shooting at a high percentage. We're getting open looks," Green said. "We're making strides towards playing our best basketball."

San Antonio has not lost since Feb. 21 in Phoenix and will close the trip Saturday against Golden State.

The Spurs are nearing another playoff berth and sit 1 1/2 games ahead of Oklahoma City for the conference's top seed.

Sacramento will continue its four-game homestand and opened the stay with Tuesday's 117-111 overtime win versus Washington.

Isaiah Thomas recorded his first career triple-double with 24 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, while DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay also scored 24 points apiece for Sacramento. Cousins also grabbed 14 rebounds.

"I never thought I would be able to get a triple-double," said Thomas. "I was just playing hard and got lost in the game just trying to make plays for my teammates."

The Kings, who are 7-3 when Thomas, Cousins and Gay score 20 or more points in a game, made 46 percent of their shots and scored 23 points off 15 Washington turnovers. They made 20 miscues themselves for 20 Wizards points and have committed 16 or more turnovers in nine of the last 10 games. The Kings are posting an average of 18.1 turnovers in the previous 10 games.

Sacramento still has Milwaukee and New York to host and is 14-19 at Sleep Train Arena this season. It has won two in a row as the host.

San Antonio has beaten Sacramento twice already this season -- both times in the Alamo City. The Spurs have won eight straight and 25 of the last 27 matchups with the Kings, and are unbeaten in the last 10 trips to Sacramento.
