Griffin, Clips rout Wolves
Dec 2, 2014 - 6:50 AM Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Blake Griffin had 23 points and eight rebounds as the Los Angeles Clippers routed the Minnesota Timberwolves 127-101 on Monday night.The Clippers went on an elongated 66-27 run after the Timberwolves took a 37-31 lead early in the second quarter.
J.J. Redick supplied 23 points, Chris Paul provided 12 points and eight assists and DeAndre Jordan added 11 points and 13 boards for Los Angeles, which has won five in a row and seven of its last eight games.
"Today was good. Our offense is so much better when the ball is moving, we get shots," Clippers coach Doc Rivers said.
Shabazz Muhammad posted 18 points, 10 boards and four assists for the Wolves, who have dropped 10 of their last 12 contests.
"We controlled the tempo in the first quarter, then we self destructed," Minnesota coach Flip Saunders said.
Muhammad's three-point play staked the Wolves to their 37-31 cushion in the second before LA went on a 17-2 surge to seize control. Spencer Hawes nailed a pair of triples and netted eight points during the swing, which was capped on two Jamal Crawford free throws for a 48-39 Clippers advantage midway through the second.
LA led 65-50 at halftime and 101-68 heading into the fourth, where it led by as many as 37 en route to the easy win.
Minnesota was up 34-31 following a quarter of play.
