Warriors try to start another win streak, host Kings

Dec 22, 2014 - 2:49 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Golden State Warriors will try to start another win streak when they host the Sacramento Kings Monday at Oracle Arena.

After having a franchise-record 16-game winning streak stopped in Memphis on Tuesday, the Warriors bounced back by cooling off the surging Oklahoma City Thunder, 114-109, Thursday night.

Stephen Curry scored 34 points on 14-of-24 shooting to go along with nine assists and seven rebounds. Klay Thompson and Draymond Green scored 19 and 16 points, respectively, for Golden State, which made 51.1 percent from the floor and recorded its seventh straight win at home.

OKC scored 40 points in the first quarter, but simmered from there. A 10-4 Golden State run secured the victory in the waning minutes of the game.

"I mentioned before the game, we haven't been that pleased with the offense the last couple games," said Warriors coach Steve Kerr. "We got stagnant in Memphis and in New Orleans a little bit. The ball really hummed tonight."

The Warriors have a 9-1 ledger as the host and lead the NBA in field goal percentage at 48.0. They are third with 107.5 ppg and have a 15-0 record when holding the opposition under 100 points.

Golden State will visit LA next to face both the Lakers and Clippers.

The Kings will step away from Sleep Train Arena for Monday's bout in Oakland and went 1-4 on a recent homestand. They stopped a five-game losing streak with a 108-101 victory over the Lakers on Sunday, as DeMarcus Cousins led the way with 29 points and 14 rebounds.

It was Cousins' second game back after missing time with an illness. He has recorded 10 straight double-doubles (14 total).

Rudy Gay finished with 24 points and six assists, Ben McLemore had 23 points and eight boards and Darren Collison scored 19 for the Kings, who won for the first time under interim head coach Tyrone Corbin.

"It was a great win tonight," McLemore said. "It's something we definitely needed as a team to keep pushing on."

Sacramento has lost three in a row on the road and is 5-6 as the guest.

The Kings lost the first of four meetings with the Warriors by a 95-77 score on Oct. 29 and were paced by Cousins, who had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Curry scored 24 points in that one for the Warriors, who won all four meetings with the Kings in 2013-14.
