Wizards continue road swing in Dallas

Dec 30, 2014 - 2:59 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Washington Wizards got their five-game western trek off to a good start and will shoot for more success Tuesday against the Dallas Mavericks at American Airlines Center.

The Wizards edged the Houston Rockets, 104-103, Monday night and were led by Bradley Beal's season-high 33 points. Paul Pierce scored 21 points and John Wall added 13 and 12 assists for the Wizards, winners of three straight and 13 of the past 16 games.

"I had a lot of open looks," said Beal. "It was just me playing with confidence."

Washington is 8-4 on the road and will also visit Oklahoma City, San Antonio and New Orleans on the road trip.

Dallas will wrap up a three-game homestand Tuesday and recorded a 112-107 victory over the Thunder on Sunday.

Dirk Nowitzki poured in season high-tying 30 points with five rebounds, while Chandler Parsons had 26 points for the Mavericks, who have won two in a row and five of their last seven games.

Monta Ellis contributed 18 points and Rajon Rondo finished with 15 points, seven assists and six rebounds.

"I thought we did a really good job on (Russell) Westbrook," said Mavs coach Rick Carlisle, who coached in his 1,000th NBA game. "That was the No. 1 game plan to try and slow these guys down."

Ellis rolled his left ankle late in the fourth and did not return to the game. He is questionable versus the Wizards.

Rondo (facial laceration) and Tyson Chandler (back) are probable.

The Mavericks will start a three-game road trip Friday against Boston, Cleveland and Brooklyn.

Dallas defeated Washington, 105-102, on Nov. 19 in DC and Ellis scored 34 points to lead the way. Beal, playing in his first game this season after missing time with a broken left wrist, paced the Wizards with 21 points.

The Mavs have won nine in a row against the Wizards.
