Thunder start road trip in Orlando

Jan 18, 2015 - 3:41 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oklahoma City Thunder begin a five-game road trip against the Eastern Conference, starting Sunday night at the Amway Center against the Orlando Magic.

The Thunder have lost four straight as the visitor, but have won two of their last three overall.

On Friday, Oklahoma City's superstars played like it in a 127-115 home win over the Golden State Warriors, the team with the best record in all of the NBA.

Russell Westbrook recorded a monster triple-double, the ninth of his career, Kevin Durant scored 36 points and Serge Ibaka added 27 as Oklahoma City rolled.

Westbrook finished with 17 points, 17 assists and 15 rebounds for the Thunder, who were coming off Thursday's loss in Houston and entered play 3 1/2 games behind the Phoenix Suns for the eighth spot in the Western Conference.

"Our mindset was a little different. We didn't take losing as an option," said Durant. "We came out with a lot of energy on both ends, our crowd was great, and it was a good win for us."

A Westbrook tip-in just before the buzzer yielded a 69-60 cushion at the break, and even though the Warriors clawed within a possession several times in the third, they never went ahead.

Anthony Morrow's 3-pointer beat the third-quarter buzzer, and the Thunder took a 98-91 advantage into the final frame. Ibaka came alive with 14 fourth- quarter points, including a 3-pointer that put the Thunder in front by double digits, 114-103, for the first time.

The margin was never closer than nine the rest of the way.

Dion Waiters scored 21 points off Oklahoma City's bench and Morrow chipped in 12 for the second unit.

The Magic had a two-game winning streak come to an end on Friday with a 10- point home loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. Sunday's game completes a challenging three-game homestand, which started with a win over the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.

On Friday, Elfrid Payton recorded the third double-double of his rookie season with 22 points and 12 assists for the Magic, who were coming off surprising wins over the Bulls and Rockets.

"I was able to get into the paint," said Payton. "Shots were falling today."

Nik Vucevic managed 18 points and nine rebounds, followed by 17 out of Channing Frye. Victor Oladipo added 16 points in the losing cause.

The Magic closed the gap to four points with under two minutes to play. Jeff Green answered with a slam off a nice pass from Marc Gasol, and after Payton missed from long range, Green went baseline on Oladipo for a second time and finished it with another dunk to all but seal the win.

Orlando heads out on a two-game road trip after Sunday's tilt with OKC.

The Magic beat the Thunder on Feb. 7, 2014 to snap a five-game series losing streak. Orlando is 8-2 in its last 10 versus OKC as the host.
