Warriors go for season sweep against Kings

Feb 3, 2015 - 5:32 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Golden State Warriors halted a losing streak last time out and will try to build some momentum Tuesday night when they visit Sleep Train Arena to face the Sacramento Kings.

The Warriors had dropped two straight before a 106-87 home victory over the Phoenix Suns on Saturday. Golden State lost at Oracle Arena to the Chicago Bulls, then fell on the road to the Utah Jazz, but got back on track versus Phoenix.

Steph Curry tallied 25 points and seven assists to lead the Warriors. Klay Thompson netted 22 points and Leandro Barbosa added 14 in his second straight strong bench effort for Golden State, which endured its third two-game losing streak of the season but has still not dropped three straight games.

Draymond Green added 11 rebounds and four assists while Harrison Barnes and Andre Iguodala gave 13 and 12 points, respectively.

"It's very rare that you have a group of guys who have a passion of hate for losing," Iguodala said. "We're not the type of guys you want to be around if we lose too many games."

Golden State led by eight through three quarters and put the game away midway through the fourth. After Brandan Wright's dunk had Phoenix within seven, Iguodala hit a pull-up jumper that sparked a 15-2 run.

Thompson and Iguodala both scored five during the spurt, which gave the Warriors a 20-point lead with three minutes left.

The Warriors host the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, then head east for four games against the Atlanta Hawks, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers and Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Kings snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 99-94 win over the Indiana Pacers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse Saturday. That game ended a four- game road trip.

Sacramento, which has lost four straight at home, prevailed thanks to great efforts from its three best players.

Rudy Gay scored 31 points and All-Star DeMarcus Cousins had another double- double. Cousins overcame his worst shooting night of the season to post 20 points and 19 rebounds. Cousins picked up his 14th double-double in his last 16 games but shot 6-for-24 from the floor and turned the ball over four times before fouling out late in the fourth quarter.

Darren Collison scored 23 points with five rebounds and five assists. The trio of Gay, Collison and Cousins combined for nearly 75 percent of Sacramento's points.

"We got the team to play for each other," said Collison. "I think the key for us was executing down the stretch."

The Warriors will go for the season sweep on Tuesday and have won seven in a row over the Kings. Golden State has taken three in a row in California's capital city.
