Jazz welcome Kings to town
Feb 7, 2015 - 3:23 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Utah Jazz hope to bounce back into the win column when they host the Sacramento Kings Saturday night. The Jazz have lost three in a row and 10 of their last 14 games, including Friday's 100-93 setback to the Phoenix Suns.
Gordon Hayward tallied 24 points, five rebounds and five assists and Derrick Favors supplied 20 points and five boards for Utah, which shot 46.3 percent and turned the ball over 14 times for 20 Phoenix points.
"We got a little careless with the ball for a little while there," said Favors. "Those were points for them and they just got hot after that.
Utah has lost three of its last four home games and is 9-15 in Salt Lake City this season. The Jazz will visit New Orleans and Dallas next.
The Kings have struggled with two straight losses and 10 in the last 11 games.
Sacramento dropped a 101-78 decision to the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday and was led by DeMarcus Cousins, who had 23 points and 11 rebounds.
"Act like you care, that's what it comes down to," Cousins said.
The Kings struggled from the field, making 36.7 percent for the game, and had 17 turnovers. Rudy Gay scored 11 points with nine rebounds and four assists, while Darren Collison played almost 15 minutes and had six points. Collison is doubtful for Saturday with an abdominal injury.
Sacramento, which has a 7-14 road record, will host the Suns on Sunday.
The Kings defeated the Jazz, 101-92, on Dec. 8 and were led by Gay's 29 points. Hayward finished with 19 points in that one for Utah, which will face the Kings again on April 5 and 8.
