Warriors continue road trip in Philly

Feb 9, 2015 - 2:58 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - There will be no rest for the weary when the Golden State Warriors continue their four-game road trip Monday against the Philadelphia 76ers at Wells Fargo Center.

The Warriors will be playing their fifth game in seven days and opened the trip with Friday's marquee matchup with the Atlanta Hawks, losing 124-116. They responded with Saturday's 106-92 victory in New York against the Knicks, as Stephen Curry scored 22 points and Draymond Green added 20 with 13 rebounds.

Klay Thompson scored 16 points for Golden State, which has won four of five and nine of its last 12 games. The Warriors didn't have to worry about Knicks star Carmelo Anthony, who did not suit up for the game, and used a 15-0 run in the first quarter to pull away.

"What I like about our team is that they always respond when we're either not playing well or lose a game," said Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.

Golden State has scored 100 or more points in 21 consecutive games and is in the midst of playing 11 of 13 games on the road. The Warriors are 17-7 as the guest and will close the trek Wednesday in Minnesota.

The 76ers will try to extend their home winning streak to five games Monday and opened a three-game residency with Saturday's 89-81 win over the Charlotte Hornets.

Philadelphia erased a 46-30 hole late in the first half and opened the third quarter on a 22-6 run. Charlotte pulled within 74-69, but the Sixers responded with a 7-0 run. Robert Covington scored 22 points, Hollis Thompson chipped in 18 and Nerlens Noel added 12 points, seven boards and two blocks.

"The third quarter was just exceptional on both sides," said 76ers coach Brett Brown.

Tim Frazier led the 76ers with eight assists, as they were without starting point guard Michael Carter-Williams for a second straight game due to a foot injury. Carter-Williams is questionable versus the Warriors.

The 76ers are 7-18 at home and will host Indiana after the All-Star break.

Philadelphia was hammered by Golden State, 126-86, out west on Dec. 30. The Warriors made 56.1 percent for the game and scored 43 points off 28 turnovers. Philly leads the NBA with 17.6 turnovers per game.

The Warriors took both matchups with the Sixers a season ago and have won three straight and four of the past five games in this series.
