Bucks hold off Kings
Feb 12, 2015 - 5:46 AM Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - O.J. Mayo scored 21 points off the bench in the Milwaukee Bucks' 111-103 win over the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.Brandon Knight added 20 points, six rebounds and five assists for the Bucks (30-23), who head into the All-Star break on a three-game winning streak. Khris Middleton tallied 15 points and a career-high 10 boards.
"We have to continue to keep going," Bucks head coach Jason Kidd said. "We've bought into (the system) both defensively and offensively."
DeMarcus Cousins ended with 28 points, 19 rebounds and four blocks for the Kings (18-34), who have lost 13 of 15. Rudy Gay and Ben McLemore contributed 17 and 16 points, respectively.
Wednesday's game was likely the last for Sacramento interim head coach Tyrone Corbin. George Karl has agreed to take over as Kings head coach after this weekend's NBA All-Star break, according to the Sacramento Bee.
Sacramento fired Mike Malone earlier this season, then let Corbin handle the duties on an interim basis.
"I respect the way we've continued to fight," Corbin said. "This team has been through a lot other than just playing the games."
Trailing 44-43 past the midway mark of the second quarter, the Bucks went on a 15-3 run. John Henson tallied six points during the surge, including an alley- oop slam with 2:13 remaining to make it 58-47. It was a 60-51 game at the half.
Ahead 70-67, Milwaukee finished the third period on a 17-2 run -- including 10 straight points from Knight at the end of the quarter -- to take an 87-69 edge into the fourth.
Sacramento's fourth-quarter comeback fell short.
