LeBron directs Cavs to Windy City

Feb 12, 2015 - 2:33 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - LeBron James sent the shot heard 'round social media last weekend and caused an uproar with an alleged Twitter barb toward teammate Kevin Love.

The Cleveland Cavaliers' superstar was frustrated after a 103-99 loss at Indiana last Friday ended a season-best 12-game winning streak.

So King James sat on his Twitter throne and expressed his displeasure.

"Stop trying to find a way to FIT-OUT and just FIT-IN," James tweeted. "Be apart (sic) of something special! Just my thoughts."

Love said he didn't understand what James was trying to convey in 140 characters or less and is apparently fine with the issue. Love went out the next game and scored 32 points on 11-of-18 shooting in Sunday's win over the LA Lakers, then followed with 12 points in Wednesday's victory over Miami.

Whether James' tweet was calculated remains to be seen, but he displayed some angst with the media via @KingJames.

"I like u guys a lot(Media) but don't try and make a story cause it looks good. If I have a problem with a teammate or anyone I'll say to....their face and not over social media. That's corny and wack! So good try again my friends(Media), I still love you guys."

James is the leader of the Cavaliers and has high expectations for his teammates. The passionate James wants a cohesive effort every game and will lead the Cavaliers on the road for the next four, starting with Thursday's showdown with the Central-rival Chicago Bulls.

The All-Star break is this weekend, so Cleveland will resume its trip against Washington, New York and Detroit following the festivities. The Cavaliers have won four of their last five road games and are 12-12 as the guest.

In last night's 113-93 decision over the Heat, James recorded 18 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists against his former team, while Timofey Mozgov recorded 20 points and Tristan Thompson ended with 17. Kyrie Irving had 15 points and six assists for the Cavaliers, who shot 56.4 percent and posted 26 points on 15 Miami turnovers.

"We're just playing with a sense of urgency and we're defending," said James. "When you defend you give yourself a great chance to win every night, no matter if you shoot the ball well or you don't. When you defend like we've been doing, we are going to give ourselves a great chance."

James needs one more assist to pass John Havlicek (6,114) for the second-most assists by a forward in NBA history. Scottie Pippen has the most assists at the position with 6,135.

Love is eight rebounds shy of 5,000 in his career and is listed as questionable Thursday with a bruised eye.

The Cavs have won 12 in a row when scoring 100 or more points and are 25-1 with 102 points or more.

Meanwhile, Chicago is holding a half-game lead on the Cavaliers in the Central Division and looks to extend its winning streak to four games.

The Bulls handed the Sacramento Kings a 104-86 defeat on Tuesday, as Pau Gasol recorded 26 points and 16 rebounds for his NBA-leading 34th double-double. Tony Snell and Derrick Rose scored 24 and 23 points, respectively, for the Bulls, who shot 52.5 percent and improved to 14-11 at home.

"I felt good," said Snell, who reached a career-high in points and made 4-of-6 3-pointers. "It's all credit to my teammates."

Jimmy Butler had only five points in 22 minutes of the first half and is listed as questionable versus the Cavs with a strained right shoulder. He originally suffered the injury at Orlando and was chosen for Sunday's All-Star Game in New York City.

Mike Dunleavy returned for the Bulls after missing 19 games with an ankle injury and scored five points in 24 minutes.

"I felt real good," Dunleavy said. "Physically, everything was good. I was pleased. I felt like my rhythm and my conditioning was fine. So hopefully I just keep building and going in the right direction."

Chicago will visit the Pistons after the break and is 0-2 against Cleveland this season. The two foes will meet again April 5 at Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena.
