Raptors, Pacers tangle in Indianapolis

Mar 16, 2015 - 1:56 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Toronto Raptors have struggled lately on the road and will pay a visit to the improved Indiana Pacers Monday night.

The Raptors have lost three straight and seven of their last eight road games, and have a 17-15 record outside Air Canada Centre.

Toronto dropped a 113-97 decision to the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday and was led by DeMar DeRozan's 22 points. Jonas Valanciunas recorded 14 points and nine rebounds, while Lou Williams scored 11 points off the bench for the Raptors, who gave up 24 points on 16 turnovers.

"We have to make sure we get stops," Raptors coach Dwane Casey. "If you don't, it's going to be a long night, especially against a great 3-point shooting team like Portland."

The Raptors fell to 2-10 in the last 12 games and are percentage points ahead of Chicago for the third seed in the East.

After visiting the Pacers, Toronto will host Minnesota on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Indiana looks to get back on track after suffering a 93-89 loss to Boston on Saturday.

George Hill posted a season-best 30 points, eight assists and five boards for Indiana, which had its seven-game winning streak snapped and received 13 points from C.J. Miles. Rodney Stuckey and C.J. Watson had 12 points apiece off the bench.

"I don't know if fatigue was an issue, just one of those games where a lot of things were going their way," Pacers coach Frank Vogel said.

Boston became the first team in eight games to shoot better than 40 percent from the field against the Pacers, ending the Indiana franchise record streak for holding consecutive opponents under 40 percent shooting at seven games.

The Pacers have scored 100 or more points in 11 of the previous 20 games and are 11-0 in those contests.

Indiana is still 13-3 in the last 16 games and will close out a four-game homestand Monday evening. It is 18-15 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse this season and will visit Chicago and Cleveland next.

The Pacers are currently seventh in the East, only a half-game ahead of Charlotte and one game in front of Miami and Boston.

Toronto is 2-0 against Indiana this season and has won the last three encounters between the conference foes.

The Raptors have only swept the season series over the Pacers once in the history of the series, winning all four matchups during the 2000-01 campaign.
