Grizzlies seek consistency, host Denver

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Memphis Grizzlies will shoot for some consistency when they welcome the Denver Nuggets to FedExForum Monday night.

The Grizzlies ended a two-game slide and won for the second time in five tries with Saturday's 96-83 triumph over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Courtney Lee scored 17 points, Zach Randolph and Jeff Green each had 15, and Marc Gasol added 12 points, seven rebounds and seven assists for the Grizzlies, who shot 47.4 percent and improved to 25-7 at home.

"We put together a better game than we have in the past," Gasol said.

Memphis is second in the Western Conference standings, just a game ahead of Portland and two in front of Houston.

The Southwest-leading Grizzlies will visit Detroit and Dallas next.

On the injury front for Memphis, guard Mike Conley (ankle) and forward Jon Leuer (back) are questionable Monday.

Denver has won four straight and six of eight games after losing six in a row and opened a five-game trek with Sunday's 118-111 double-overtime triumph against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Will Barton scored 25 points, Kenneth Faried totaled 20 with 10 rebounds, and Ty Lawson scored 19 points in the win. Jameer Nelson ended with 18 points and Danilo Gallinari added 17, including a big 3-pointer in the second OT.

The Nuggets, who scored nine of the 11 points in the second OT, withstood a superb performance from Pelicans All-Star Anthony Davis. Davis flirted with a quadruple-double four days after turning 22 and posted 36 points, 14 rebounds, nine blocks and seven assists.

"He's an incredible player," Nuggets interim coach Melvin Hunt said of Davis. "I wanted to call a timeout to see if there were three of him out there."

Hunt is 6-2 since taking over for Brian Shaw.

Denver will also visit Houston, Miami and Orlando on the trip, and is 10-22 away from the Rocky Mountains this season.

Nuggets forward Wilson Chandler (knee) is probable Monday. Chandler did not play against the Pelicans and is averaging 13.7 points and 5.9 rebounds.

Memphis is 28-13 against teams from the West, while Denver has a 16-24 mark in conference action. The Grizzlies and Nuggets have split a pair of meetings this season, while Memphis is 3-1 in the past four encounters.

Denver is winless in its last four games on Beale Street.
