Paul, Jordan help Clippers down Grizzlies

Apr 12, 2015 - 5:16 AM Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan each contributed a double-double in the Los Angeles Clippers' 94-86 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night.

Paul had 15 points and 14 assists, while Jordan deposited 16 points with 16 rebounds for the Clippers, who have won five straight and moved a half-game clear of Houston for the fifth seed in the Western Conference.

"We didn't play very well, but we played well enough to win the game," Clippers coach Doc Rivers said. "Our rhythm wasn't there. Maybe you have to credit Memphis, but we hung in there."

Blake Griffin went for 18 points, eight rebounds and six assists in the win.

"Guys stepped up and made shots," Griffin said. "It was a collected effort."

Zach Randolph led Memphis with 21 points to go along with 13 rebounds and five assists, and Jeff Green added 15 in the setback.

The Grizzlies fell into a tie with San Antonio for the Southwest Division crown as well as the No. 2 seed out west.

Memphis center Marc Gasol left the game just after nearly 10 minutes of action because of a sprained ankle. He finished with two points, two rebounds and two assists.

"I'm proud of our team. When Marc went out we still battled," Memphis coach Dave Joerger said. "They're a good team and we held them to only 94 points."

The game was tied just before the midway point of the fourth when J.J. Redick canned a 3-pointer, then Paul scored the final five points of what turned out to be an 8-2 run that gave Los Angeles an 87-81 lead.

Randolph converted a floater with over three minutes left that cut Memphis' deficit to four, but that would be as close it would come down the stretch.

Memphis led by two early in the third when the Clippers ripped off 11 straight points for a 65-56 lead. Paul's jumper moments later made it an 11-point edge, but Los Angeles was held scoreless from there and the Grizzlies ended the final 4:27 of the third on a 10-0 burst to trim their deficit to 69-68 entering the fourth.

The Clippers led 26-21 after 12 minutes and 52-49 at halftime.
