Bulls, Nets take aim at different playoff goals

Apr 13, 2015 - 2:03 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Brooklyn Nets have their sights set on clinching a postseason spot in the near future and will host the Chicago Bulls Monday at Barclays Center.

The Nets are even with Indiana for the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference and have alternated results over the last six games.

Brooklyn dropped a 96-73 decision to Milwaukee on Sunday. Brook Lopez supplied 12 points and 10 boards, while Mason Plumlee and Jarrett Jack each netted 11 points for Brooklyn.

"I thought we played extremely hard," Nets coach Lionel Hollins. "We just couldn't get it done in the execution tonight."

The Nets will also host the Orlando Magic on the season-ending homestand.

Chicago has won two in a row since losing back-to-back games and recorded a 114-107 triumph versus Philadelphia Saturday at the United Center.

Pau Gasol had 24 points with 13 rebounds for his NBA-leading 52nd double- double, while Derrick Rose supplied 22 points with eight assists for the Bulls, winners in eight of the last 12 games.

"Philly definitely competed," Gasol said. "At the end we were able to pull through and get a nice win."

Jimmy Butler added 15 points with six rebounds for the Bulls, who remain tied with Toronto for the third seed in the East.

The Bulls will host Atlanta Wednesday and are 2-1 against the Nets this season. The Bulls and Nets have split the last four meetings, but Chicago is 8-4 in the past 12 encounters.
