Stuckey leads balanced attack as Pistons rout Heat

Oct 9, 2007 - 3:29 AM AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- Many got to see the Detroit Pistons in action, but the same couldn't be said for the Miami Heat.

Rookie Rodney Stuckey scored 15 points and Jason Maxiell added 11 and 10 rebounds as the Pistons rolled to a 103-86 victory over the undermanned Heat in Monday's preseason opener for both clubs.

Tayshaun Prince netted 13 and Chauncey Billups poured in 12 for Detroit, which watched 14 of its 15 players record at least one point in the contest.

Drafted 15th overall out of Eastern Washington in June, Stuckey will be looked upon early to supply relief for the 31-year-old Billups. Stuckey connected on 5-of-7 shots from the field.

Fellow first-round selection Arron Afflalo also contributed for Detroit, collecting nine points and two steals off the bench. He was taken 27th overall out of UCLA.

While Pistons coach Flip Saunders showcased the majority of his 2007-08 roster, Miami took the court with unnoticeable players who are just looking to make the final cut.

The Heat were without several key performers, including superstars Shaquille O'Neal, Dwyane Wade and newcomer Penny Hardaway.

Rookie Marcus Slaughter led the way for Miami with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting, while first-round pick Daequan Cook added seven in 19 minutes.
