Nowitzki, Mavericks set to face Roy, Blazers

Nov 10, 2007 - 2:40 PM Dallas (4-1) at Portland (2-3) 10:00 pm EST

PORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) -- The Dallas Mavericks exercised some demons in their last game. They'll try to keep the momentum going Saturday when they visit the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Mavericks cruised to the best record in the NBA last season, but were bounced out of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs by the eighth seeded Golden State Warriors. On Thursday, Dallas posted a 120-115 win at Golden State.

Dirk Nowitzki scored eight of his 22 points in the fourth quarter and Josh Howard and Jason Terry each finish with 24 as the Mavericks overcame a four-point halftime deficit to earn the win. It was Dallas' third straight victory.

The Blazers are coming off an emotional win as well, erasing a 15-point deficit to earn a 110-98 win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

After allowing 61 points in the first half, Portland locked down on defense and yielded just 37 over the final two quarters.

LaMarcus Aldridge led the way with 30 points and 10 rebounds and Brandon Roy added 22 points as the Blazers shot 51 percent (42-of-82) en route to their second win of the season after dropping their first three contests.

The Mavericks dominated the season series in the 2006-07 campaign, winning all three games between the teams by a combined 44 points.
