Spurs face Mavericks in Southwest Division matchup

Nov 15, 2007 - 2:29 PM San Antonio (7-1) at Dallas (5-2) 8:00 pm EST

DALLAS (Ticker) - Two of the Western Conference's top teams meet on Thursday when the San Antonio Spurs take on the Dallas Mavericks.

After winning their third title in five seasons, the Spurs have picked up right where they left off, winning seven of their first eight games - including four in a row.

San Antonio continued its winning ways on Tuesday with a 107-92 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. Bruce Bowen scored 23 points and was 6-of-6 from 3-point range while holding Kobe Bryant to just 18 points - 10 of which came in the fourth quarter - after the Lakers' superstar averaged 30.4 points in his first five games.

A defensive specialist, Bowen has been named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team for the last four campaigns.

Jason Terry scored 25 points for the Mavericks on Tuesday as they rebounded from just their second loss of the season with a 99-84 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.

Terry, who is averaging 21.8 points to rank second on the team, has given Dallas an offensive boost this season as Dirk Nowitzki continues to search for his MVP rhythm of last season.
