Howard, Magic look for more road success vs. Nets
Nov 16, 2007 - 2:59 PM Orlando (7-2) at New Jersey (4-4) 7:30 pm ESTEAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) - Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic want to remain kings of the road.
Howard and the Magic aim to extend their franchise road-winning streak to six games when they visit the New Jersey Nets on Friday.
Howard matched his career-high with 35 points and pulled down 16 rebounds in a 117-116 overtime win over LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday.
Orlando is the only team aside from the unbeaten Boston Celtics that has yet to lose on the road.
Howard has enjoyed plenty of success against the Nets, who do not have an answer for him inside.
The first overall pick of the 2004 draft, who is averaging 21.9 points and 16.9 boards, scored 25 points to go with 12 rebounds in a loss here on February 10. In the most recent meeting last March he scored just 10 points, but pulled down 16 rebounds in a 90-82 home win.
The Magic will need him to continue his stellar play if they are going to snap a four-game skid here.
That may be easier to accomplish since the Nets have lost three straight and are missing Vince Carter, who is out indefinitely with a sprained ankle. On Wednesday New Jersey shot a season-low 33 percent in a 91-69 loss to Boston.
The teams spilt the four meetings a season ago.
