Nuggets seek fourth-straight win vs. shorthanded Spurs

Dec 15, 2007 - 3:04 PM Denver (14-8) at San Antonio (17-5) 8:30 pm EST

SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) - The Denver Nuggets go for their fourth-straight win on Saturday when they visit the shorthanded San Antonio Spurs.

Carmelo Anthony scored 32 points and added 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season as the Nuggets extended their win streak with a 105-99 victory over the New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday.

Anthony, who leads all Western Conference forwards in early All-Star Game voting, is averaging 25 points, 5.5 rebounds and four assists per game this season.

The Spurs, meanwhile, had a five-game win streak snapped during their last game, suffering a 96-84 setback to the Golden State Warriors.

San Antonio's win streak came despite the absence of Tim Duncan, who has missed the last four games after hurting his right ankle against the Portland Trail Blazers on November 2. He is averaging 17.6 points and a team-high 8.9 rebounds per game.

Tony Parker also missed his first game this season with an ankle injury which has been hampering the lightning-quick point guard for several contests.

Serving as their replacements, veteran guard Jacque Vaughn and forward Fabricio Oberto combined for just 16 points on 4-of-11 shooting against the Warriors.
