Magic look to finish week on positive note vs. Grizzlies

Dec 15, 2007 - 3:18 PM Memphis (6-16) at Orlando (17-7) 7:00 pm EST

ORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) - The Orlando Magic look to finish their week on a positive note when the Memphis Grizzlies come calling on Saturday.

After disappointing losses to Atlanta and Milwaukee, Orlando got back on the winning side of things with Friday's 103-87 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats.

Once again, Magic center Dwight Howard dominated the paint with 33 points and 18 rebounds to help snap the three-game losing streak.

The 22-year-old Howard continues to put up MVP-type numbers as he is slowly earning the title as the best big man in the entire Eastern Conference. He's averaging career highs in points (23.5) and rebounds (15.2).

While Orlando is enjoying an impressive early start, the Grizzlies are still trying to discover their identity this season.

Memphis dropped its sixth consecutive outing with Friday's 98-91 setback to the Los Angeles Clippers. Mike Miller led the charge with 23 points.

Grizzlies will have an even tougher time defending Howard if former All-Star Pau Gasol is unable to play after sitting out Friday's loss due to an injured right big toe.

Orlando has just two wins in the last 10 meetings against Memphis, which hasn't lost at home in the series since January 19, 2002 - the Grizzlies first season since relocating from Vancouver.
