Anthony leads balanced attack as Nuggets crush Bucks

Dec 27, 2007 - 5:50 AM DENVER (Ticker) -- The Denver Nuggets let their performance do the talking.

Carmelo Anthony, Marcus Camby and Allen Iverson all contributed in a huge way as the Nuggets breezed to a 125-105 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night.

Anthony collected 29 points and 10 rebounds and Iverson scored 24 points in helping Denver defeat Milwaukee for the eighth time in the last nine meetings.

The reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Camby recorded a rare triple-double - third of his career - with 10 points, 11 boards and 10 blocks. Camby's 10 blocks were the most in team history since December 2, 1995.

"It felt good, especially coming off the Christmas break," Camby said. "We jumped on them early and never let up. It's always fun when you can play with the lead. It was a solid effort."

The trio of Anthony, Camby and Iverson were impressive in the first quarter, accounting for all of Denver's 28 first-quarter points that created an 11-point edge after the opening period.

"We got out in transition," Anthony said. "Whenever we do that, it is hard to stop us. Everybody stepped up. Anytime you can sit out the forth quarter is always nice."

The Nuggets continued to pour it in the second on as they closed out the first half on a 19-8 surge to extend the lead to 68-38 at intermission.

"This is what a team is all about," Iverson said. "If we play like we did on the defensive end and share the ball like we did, we can be real scary."

Linas Kleiza and Anthony Carter each scored 13 points and J.R. Smith added 12 for Denver, which shot 54 percent (47-of-86) from the floor en route to its fourth win in five games.

Mo Williams netted 28 points and Charlie Villanueva chipped in 17 off the bench as the Bucks dropped their third outing in four tries.

"We dug ourselves a big hole at halftime and it was tough to get out," Williams said. "We needed to come out with a 20-point run to just have a chance. That didn't happen. We just have to keep competing and look to (Thursday)."

Milwaukee sharpshooter Michael Redd was held in check with nine points on 1-of-8 shooting. It was just his second single-digit performance of the campaign.

"At times like this, we have no one to lean on but ourselves," Redd said. "It's my responsibility to keep this group together and keep it positive."
