Yao, Rockets host reeling SuperSonics

Jan 21, 2008 - 2:12 PM Seattle (9-31) at Houston (21-19) 2:30 pm EST

HOUSTON (Ticker) -- Buoyed by the return of Tracy McGrady, the Houston Rockets host the hapless Seattle SuperSonics, who remain winless in 2008, on Monday.

After missing 11 games with a strained tendon and tendinitis in his left knee, McGrady, a former NBA scoring champion, scored nine points on 4-of-12 shooting in 27 minutes off the bench in Saturday's 83-81 win over the San Antonio Spurs.

Yao Ming collected 21 points and 14 rebounds for Houston, which has won five straight at home against Seattle.

"It's a process of knowing that, if I were to wait until I get to 100 percent, then I would probably be waiting until the end of the season," McGrady said. "I made up my mind that I was going to come out and play. I went through two hard practices that went pretty good, and I felt like I would give it a shot."

Seattle suffered its 10th straight loss on Saturday with a 111-96 defeat to the Dallas Mavericks. Rookie Kevin Durant finished with just six points.

Selected No. 2 overall out of Texas in June's draft, Durant is averaging 18.6 points during the Sonics' slide.

Houston swept the season series last year with Yao and McGrady averaging 61.3 combined points in three games.
