Blazers open campaign at Rose Garden vs. Wolves

PORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) -- The Portland Trail Blazers look to continue the good times against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Blazers, who are opening the 2006-07 campaign at home, go for their third consecutive win over the Wolves on Saturday.

Portland had a chance to open the season with consecutive wins but absorbed its seventh straight loss against Golden State, 102-89, on Friday. Zach Randolph scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and rookie Brandon Roy added 19 and six for the Blazers, who committed 23 turnovers.

Making its second stop on a four-game road trip, Minnesota is coming off consecutive wins after capturing a 112-109 victory over Denver on Friday. Kevin Garnett had 27 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks and rookie Craig Smith added 20 off the bench for the Wolves, who shot 52 percent (42-of-81) from the field.

Ricky Davis scored 19 points and handed out six assists and Mike James followed with 18 for Minnesota.

The Wolves and Blazers, who have won five straight home openers, split four meetings during the 2005-06 campaign.

Minnesota last opened a season with three straight wins in 2001-02, when the club began 6-0.
