Dixon nails game-winning shot, Blazers top Timberwolves
Nov 5, 2006 - 5:45 AM PORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) -- Juan Dixon came up big at just the right time.The cold-shooting Dixon nailed a game-winning 3-pointer with 4.7 seconds remaining as the Portland Trail Blazers won their fourth consecutive game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, 88-86.
Travis Outlaw had one of the best games of his young career with 18 points and 15 rebounds for the Blazers, who shot just 43 percent (35-of-82) from the field but had only 10 turnovers.
The Timberwolves went to a zone defense on the final possession. Rookie Brandon Roy, who made two foul shots with 57 seconds left, found Dixon in the left corner for the clinching shot.
Dixon struggled for most of the game but came up big when it mattered. The 6-3 guard shot just 4-of-11 from the field and had 10 points.
Zach Randolph scored 17 points and 17 Roy added 16 and eight assists for Portland, which won its sixth straight home opener.
Kevin Garnett had 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Timberwolves, who failed in a bid for their first 3-0 start since 2001.
