Pistons go for eighth straight win vs. struggling Bobcats

Feb 10, 2008 - 3:52 PM Charlotte (18-32) at Detroit (36-13) 6:00 pm EST

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) - The Detroit Pistons are one of the best defensive teams in the league. The Charlotte Bobcats can't stop anyone lately.

The Pistons will be looking to stretch their current winning streak to eight games when they host the lowly Bobcats on Sunday.

Detroit ranks second in the NBA in points allowed, holding their opponents to 89.9 points per game. The defensive intensity led the Pistons to a 91-82 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday.

Chauncey Billups scored all 17 of his points in the first quarter on Friday as the reserves played most of the second half. Detroit is allowing just 74 points during their winning streak.

The Bobcats are on the other end of the spectrum, having dropped five in a row while allowing over 114 points. They have allowed 100 or more points in each of the last seven games.

Leading scorer Gerald Wallace returned on Friday after a two-game absence due to a right foot injury and scored 21 points in Charlotte's 104-90 setback against the New Jersey Nets. The Nets shot 9-of-16 from the arc in the game.

The Pistons have won the first two meetings between the teams this season, including a 103-100 overtime victory in the latest matchup on January 12. Billups scored 27 points in the win.
