Wizards take on Clippers looking to end slide
Feb 13, 2008 - 1:18 PM Washington (24-27) at LA Clippers (17-32) 10:30 pm ESTLOS ANGELES (Ticker) - The Washington Wizards look to end their longest losing streak of the season when they visit the Los Angles Clippers on Tuesday.
The Wizards are mired in their first eight-game losing streak since the 2001-02 season and haven't lost nine straight since achieving the feat twice during the 2000-01 campaign.
Washington had a strong chance of breaking out of its slump on Monday, but let a 23-point second-quarter lead slip away en route to a 120-117 setback to the Golden State Warriors.
It was the second straight narrow loss for the Wizards, who fell, 108-107, to the Phoenix Suns on Sunday.
The Clippers have won three of their last five games, including a 96-89 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday. Rookie Al Thornton led the way, scoring 25 points on 12-of-20 shooting.
Thornton is averaging just 10.2 points and 3.6 rebounds this season, but has scored at least 18 points in each of his last three games.
